Zombé Squad (pronounced zom-bay) is the collaboration between West Coast wordsmiths Meyer Wolfsheim and Obvious (SOC). In this day and age, mainstream rap is mesmerizing the masses with pop beats and wack raps. As a result, people are turning into zombies - listliessly following pop icons in a robotic lifeless fashion, forgetting the true roots of hip-hop. The Zombé squad is dedicated to waking up the walking dead to the fact that creative independent hip-hop is still alive. With years in the game and a respect and love for hip-hop music, these innovators represent the next page of lyricism. Reppin West L.A., Meyer Wolfsheim's charactaristically deep voice and wordplay earn him respect from hip-hop, rock, and even gothic circles. As a master syllabist and altogether entertaining fellow, Wolfsheim is memorable for his trademark top-hat and quirky Willy Wonka-esque fashion sense. Known for his preference for 1920s and 30s big band and swing music, Wolfsheim infuses his rymes with esoteric references to decades past. Reppin Long Beach, CA Obvious has been ryming with fellow emcee Myndbender in Shadows of Confusion for several years. With an original West Coast flow influenced by artists as diverse as Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, LL Cool J, Souls Of Mischief, and Scarface, Obvious has an innate sense of timing and lyricism - a natural to be sure. Obvious' characteristically smooth voice makes his style all the more memorable. Two different emcees from two different areas of L.A. combine as the Zombé Squad, applying their own methods and tactics to the hip-hop scene. Creating new sounds and breaking the rules in the process. Stay tuned for some new releases and get down with the squad.
